“I was hanging out with a work friend, and we both needed to stop by the mall for random items. On our way to the mall, we were discussing the various random celebrities we’ve seen in the Jamba Juice we both work at, and in general around town. We get to mall and continue our extensive conversation. We both are tea fans, so we decided to go for a tea sample at Teavana. Right as we start sipping, I get nudged by her, almost spilling my 2 oz tea sample, and she whispers loudly, “OMG! Kevin McKidd just walked in”. Obviously at first, I don’t believe her, so I look inside for myself.

There he was in his grey hooodie and baseball cap, his wife, and two kids, checking out teas. Luckily, my buddy was gonna buy some tea anyway, so we walked in with our sampler, got to the counter, and proceeded with our transaction. We tap him on the shoulder while his wife was talking to the cashier, asked if it was really him. He laughed and said yes. He discussed how we both are avid Grey’s fans, loved that he decided to sing, and the directing he did in one of the episodes. He smiled, laughed, and thanked us both. And of course, we couldn’t walk away without getting a snapshot with him, so She took one, and I took one. It was a great day at the mall =)”

Injured veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were given a voice on the small screen when Kevin McKidd joined the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2008 as a war vet doctor. That is why he was chosen to present an award at the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation’s seventh annual Night of Heroes gala, which honored military heroes and the doctors who care for them at Washington’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Thursday night.
McKidd said being chosen to present an award seemed like “a good fit” given the preparation he underwent for his role as a former Army medic suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. “[The part] gave me insight into the sacrifice of all these soldiers who put themselves in harm’s way,” he told Yeas & Nays.

To make room for all the theatrical lights that light the set, most film sets don’t have ceilings. So to do this unique low angle shot of Owen from Cristina’s POV in bed, Kevin McKidd had to lie on scaffolding with a fake ceiling dropped in above him as he was lit from below instead of above.
